Opis lub recenzja książki
This stand-alone CD-ROM consists of nine physiology lab simulations that may be used to supplement or substitute for wet labs. This easy-to-use software allows students to repeat labs as often as they like, perform experiments without harming live animals, and conduct experiments that may be difficult to perform in a wet lab environment due to time, cost, or safety concerns. Students also have the flexibility to change the parameters of an experiment and observe how outcomes are affected. Available in both CD-ROM and web formats, PhysioEx® is fully supported by a written lab manual that walks students through each lab step-by-step.
- NEW! A new lab, "Neurophysiology of Nerve Impulses," has been added to V3.0. Topics covered include: eliciting a nerve impulse, inhibiting a nerve impulse, and nerve conduction velocity.
- NEW! A new lab, "Endocrine System Physiology," has been added to V3.0. Topics covered include: hormones and metabolism, hormone replacement therapy, and insulin and diabetes.
- REVISED! The "Chemical and Physical Processes of Digestion" lab has been revised to include four new variables in the amylase activity: glucose, cellulose, peptidase, and bacteria. A new "freeze" button has also been added to this lab to allow students to test the impact of freezing on enzyme activity.
- NEW! The histology tutorial has been re-designed for easier navigation. Students can turn labels on and off self-quizzing.
- ENHANCED! Graphics in every lab have been beautifully enhanced.
- NEW! Version 3.0 is available in two formats: cross-platform CD-ROM, or an all-new online format at www.physioex.com.
- NEW! Students can now print out graphs, "plot data" charts, and data.
- Each experiment is accompanied by a printed exercise that includes a description of the experiment with clear, step-by-step instructions and review sheets for self-testing.
- Easy navigation gives students the freedom to repeat experiments as often as they like, and change parameters to produce multiple outcomes.
