Fun With Sounds and Rhymes offers a variety of activities which will help children to read. Sounds are important because they link h ow we say words to how we decode them on the page. Rhymes are important because they show there are patterns of sounds associated wi th patterns of letters. The activities are designed to develop visual perception of individual letter shapes, association of letters with sounds, the difference between different sounds at the beginning and endings of words and the anticipation of common sequences of letters and words. Previously published as At Home with Sounds and Rhymes this new title has been fully revised and updated to e nsure it is in line with current Foundation Stage Profile requirements. The design has been improved to make the activities very cle ar and easy to follow.
